Why is my Houston electric bill so high in summer?

Air conditioning. A typical Houston home uses about twice as much power in July and August as it does in March. On a fixed rate the bill goes up with usage and comes right back down. On a bill-credit plan it can swing much harder, because the credit disappears in the months you use less.

Can I switch before my current contract ends?

Yes. Texas law lets you switch with no early termination fee in the 14 days before your contract ends. Earlier than that, your current provider may charge the fee on its Electricity Facts Label. Pick a start date here and we schedule the switch for exactly that day.

Will my power go off when I switch?

No. Nobody comes to the house and nothing is disconnected. The only thing that changes is which company bills you, on the date you choose.
